The Cook Nests is an independent cooking website for small households — couples, empty nesters, roommates and anyone who'd rather cook for two than for a crowd.
Why we exist
Recipes, grocery packages and kitchen equipment are mostly designed for families. When your household gets smaller, that can mean wasted food, awkward math and too many nights of the same leftovers. We want to make cooking for a small household easier and more enjoyable.
What you'll find here
- Recipes for two with pan sizes and timings that fit, each teaching one cooking skill.
- A kitchen skills guide covering core techniques and USDA safe temperatures.
- Cooking for two guides on shopping, portions, planned leftovers and kitchen setup.
- A free recipe scaler that resizes any ingredient list in your browser.
- Free starter plans — a two-week dinner plan for two, prepared on request.
How we write
We write for US home kitchens, using cups, ounces and Fahrenheit. We include safe cooking temperatures, flag common allergens and avoid health claims. Our standards page has the details.
Independent and free
We don't sell cooking classes, kitchen products, meal kits or subscriptions. Advertising may help support the site but never shapes our content. See our Ads Disclosure.
